Freshers Packs

Each academic year, there is a new influx of students at universities and colleges. It is at this point that they are exposed to what is commonly called Freshers. This usually consists of a week of inviting the new additions to a variety of clubs and societies. The Islamic Societies all over the United Kingdom, distribute packs to new students to welcome them to the Islamic Society. These are known as Freshers Packs.

London Isoc has been distributing Freshers Packs to universities for over seven years now. We distribute over 10,000 packs a year and this number is always increasing.

Khateeb Training Course

London Isoc holds its Khateeb Training  Course at the beginning of each year. The course is primarily aimed at University and College students but is open to all.

The course is held in the Markfield Dawah Centre in Leicester. It consists of two days of intensive khutbah training with topics covering the very basics to presentations with feedback.

The topics are taught by a number of prominent students of knowledge as well as by the London Isoc Shura. It is always extremely well received and has made a significant impact on student campuses.

Isoc Management Seminar

Every year, Islamic Societies make changes to their committees. This may be small changes or major changes. The new additions will inevitably have less experience than the previous committee and this is where problems often lie for Islamic Societies.
London Isoc has designed a two-day course which deals with the majority of topics which are essential to running an Islamic Society.

With speakers from a plethora of universities, all of who have been heads of their respective societies gives this seminar an authority which is difficult to surpass.

Dawah Training Course

University and college life exposes people to a variety of different belifes and cultures. Sometimes a person's belief is challenged and in other instances needs to challenge the beliefs of others to help them to see the light of Islaam.

London Isoc works closely with Discover Islam to bring the best Dawah Training Course of the year to primarily students but others are able to attend if they wish. This course targets the many faces of giving dawah and galvanises the attendee into being even more proactive.

Presidents' Meeting

London Isoc holds its Presidents Meetings twice a year. We recongnise, that whilst we as London Isoc are a service provider, provision of our services is dependent upon the needs of the client. It is therefore imperative, that the client is heard and that their needs are addressed.

Because of this, London Isoc meets with Presidents of the Islamic Societies twice a year in an effort to gauge how the societies feel London Isoc is helping, what problems London Isoc can help them overcome and how there can be greater cooperation in dawah.

Football Tournaments

'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'. London Isoc strives to involve everyone in their activities and what better way to do it than with a Football Tournament, or in our case three!

That's right, there are three tournaments throughout the year with individual winners and then an overall winner if teams are willing to 'brave their bones' with the elements and other teams to see who is the best.

The tournament takes place at Beckton Power League and is played on five-a-side pitches.

Murabbi Programme

At London Isoc, our experience has taught us that in the life of an Islamic Society, there are many difficult decisions to make and when there are different backgrounds within the Society, it can be even more difficult to make that crucial call.

Because of this, we have setup the Murabbi Programme which hopes to provide each Society with a designated guide from amongst the students of knowledge within the United Kingdom.

We are confident that this will help to alleviate many of the difficulties that Islamic Societies face and provide a coordinated outlook on Society life.

Development Programme

At London Isoc, we feel that it is important that students who are the leaders of tomorrow are well rounded individuals who have a holistic understanding of what life is like and what are the pressures that people have, how are we able to help as individuals and what lessons can we learn from the past.

London Isoc has setup the Development Programmes. These are excursions to different parts of the world to witness what occurs in other countries and to see what role that plays in our lives. In 2006, we took a group of 25 students to the Earthquake stricken areas of Pakistan to see the devastation first hand. It was an experience few would forget.
